Authoring Best Practices
Here are some best practices for report development as recommended by the authors.
• The following is suggested regarding dataset names:
• Dataset names cannot contain spaces.
• Avoid changing the dataset name after you create it!
• Use something other than Dataset1.
• Use the Report Builder T-SQL graphical designer to create simple queries.
• Use the SQL Server Management Studio query designer to build and test queries that are more complex.
