SQL Server Version Selection
Implementing SSRS for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager requires Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP1 (x64) or later. Although Microsoft supports SSRS 2008 R2 on the Windows Server 2003 x64 platform, the authors recommend the Windows Server 2008 x64 operating system. With System Center 2012 SP 1, you can use SQL Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012.
Tip: Using the Windows Server 2008 Platform
Although it is possible to install SSRS 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2003, given the age of that product and Microsoft’s direction toward 64-bit computing, you should strongly consider using the Windows 2008 R2 or a newer version
