Creating a Collection Based on Query Results

Before creating a collection that uses a query rule, examining the results in a query provides an opportunity to view attributes because a collection show only a default set of attributes. Because of this, you should create a query first, verify the results are as you expect, and then use it as the basis of your collection.

When you import a query into a collection, the additional attributes specified in your query are ignored and replaced with a default set. This process also occurs if you paste the WQL from a query to the collection rule directly. Looking at the previous memory query first examined in the “WMI Query Language” section, note the attributes requested in this select statement:
