Overview of Mobile Device Management
Recognizing the challenges of managing mobile devices, Microsoft has taken the majority of features available in Mobile Device Manager 2008 and Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr) 2007 and consolidated them together into System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. This version of ConfigMgr also adds integration with Exchange ActiveSync functionality.
The approach presents two different levels of device management:
• Light management: This model uses Exchange ActiveSync, enabling broad support for different mobile platforms.
