The Software Updates Process in Action

Although software update management is streamlined from ConfigMgr 2007, the background software update process is largely unchanged and still involves many moving parts. What happens when and “whodunit” is important not only conceptually but also in practice when managing software updates in ConfigMgr. The cyclical process described here assumes that you have a properly configured ConfigMgr site as well as a properly working WSUS instance and SUP:
