About Detection Methods

Create a detection method to determine if a deployment type is installed on a device. A detection method is required and should be unique to the DT. To use a deployment type properly, a detection method must be defined. When a device evaluates an application, it checks to see if it is already installed, based on the detection method. In addition, if an application is deployed as Required (mandatory), the ConfigMgr client agent re-evaluates the application installation (based on detection method) on a weekly basis, by default. This re-evaluation interval is configured through Client Settings. See Chapter 9, “Configuration Manager Client Management,” for more information.
