The most commonly overlooked method of avoiding issues with ConfigMgr packaging is to test for as many contingencies as possible. If you are creating a software package to deploy to 1,000 workstations, you almost certainly will run into unexpected configurations. Effective testing processes can limit the risks of program failures or unexpected complications.

To test software packages, you need a testing lab (also discussed in Chapter 4, “Architecture Design Planning”). This lab includes computers representative of those systems to which you will deploy the software package. However, it is often difficult to get nonproduction versions of actual systems for testing purposes.
