Automatically Upgrading the Client

When a ConfigMgr 2007 client tries to be assigned to a ConfigMgr 2012 site, you can use the automatic client upgrade feature to upgrade it. Until the client is upgraded, features such as client settings, applications, and software updates are unavailable. Automatic client upgrade automatically creates a client upgrade package and program distributed to all available distribution points in the hierarchy, with a deployment targeted to all clients in the hierarchy, which can evaluate the deployment and apply it when applicable.
