Security Considerations

Despite all the advancements of the System Center 2012 Configuration Manager console, there is still some commonality between it and the ConfigMgr 2007 consoles. The security requirement for things such as the SMS Provider has not changed.

By default, a local group called SMS Admins is granted the permissions required to access the SMS Provider and the Common Information Model (CIM) repository. Whenever an administrative user is granted access to Configuration Manager, the user is added to the SMS Admins group, inherently receiving these permissions.
