Client to Server Communications

ConfigMgr is designed to use Internet standard protocols for most client communications. In addition, nearly all client communication ports are configurable. ConfigMgr supports both HTTP and HTTPS for most client to server communications. For security reasons, HTTPS is the preferred protocol. Clients provisioned with the certificate required for mutually authenticated HTTPS communications select site systems using HTTPS whenever such systems are available. Chapter 20, “Security and Delegation in Configuration Manager,” describes how to configure systems for HTTPS communication.
