Developing the Server Architecture

As with all Windows Server installations, use only hardware components listed in the Windows Server Catalog. The catalog is located at http://www.windowsservercatalog.com/. For maximum supportability, it is best to use hardware bearing the Windows Server Hardware logo. Virtualization of all site systems roles is supported on Windows Server 2008, Hyper-V Server 2008, and newer versions. You can find information about supportability on other virtualization products at http://www.windowsservercatalog.com/svvp.aspx. Directly attached volumes on a storage area network (SAN) are supported, provided all hardware components are supported.
