Content management refers to the technologies in ConfigMgr responsible for storing, distributing, and maintaining content.

Distribution Point

A distribution point, discussed in Chapter 13, is a site role that stores content and facilitates the transfer of content to devices. A site could contain multiple DPs to help offset a large volume of content transfer to devices or situate content closer to a group of devices reducing impact on traffic over the WAN.

In bandwidth-sensitive locations, content distribution to a DP can be throttled. In addition, you could schedule DPs to transfer content during optimal times of the day. You could also prestage content to the distribution point.
