Viewing Log Files
All ConfigMgr log files are simple text files, as are other supporting log files mentioned in this appendix. Thus, you can view them using a variety of tools, including Windows Notepad if you want. However, Microsoft has traditionally supplied an enhanced log file viewer in an accompanying toolkit for SMS and ConfigMgr called SMSTrace or Trace32. For ConfigMgr 2012, this tool has been updated and renamed CMTrace and is included with the default installation of every central administration server (CAS) or primary site server in <ConfigMgrInstallPath>\tools.
