Chapter 8Routes

Routes are the logical connections used by the Replication Servers to send messages to other Replication Servers within the same domain. (The replication system domain refers to all Replication Servers that use the same ID Server.) A route is a one-way message stream that sends requests from the source Replication Server to the destination Replication Server. Between any two Replication Servers, there can be either unidirectional or bidirectional routes.

In a distributed environment, routes are needed when Replication Servers at each site manage local databases. Source and destination Replication Servers should be identified, as well as direct and indirect routes from each source to its corresponding destination.
