A

Access Layer

The access layer is where end users connect to the network.

access point (AP)

A device that connects wireless communication devices to form a wireless network, analogous to a hub connecting wired devices to form a LAN. The AP usually connects to a wired network and can relay data between wireless devices and wired devices. Several APs can link together to form a larger network that allows roaming.

Acknowledgment (ACK) frame

An ACK frame is sent by receiving stations to confirm receipt of data.
