Giving negative feedback to someone may not be a walk in the park, but showing sincere compassion and understanding when doing it is crucial to your success. By practicing and using the Sandwich Technique, you can achieve the outcome you’re looking for. It’s called the “Sandwich” because it involves couching the feedback between a positive initial compliment and a hopeful, optimistic close. I call it feedback rather than criticism because the word feedback doesn’t have a pejorative connotation like criticism does. Feedback means you’re simply telling someone how you feel and what you’ve observed and experienced.
