Chapter 11. Scheduling Supply

Once you have a demand forecast in hand, you need to figure out the most cost-effective way to satisfy the expected demand. This chapter explains how you can use ERP, APS, and simulation systems to plan the production and movement of goods across your chain. Although most companies tend to rely on just one kind of system, the most effective approach is to combine the three, using each system to solve the problems it handles best. As with other areas of supply chains, the biggest challenge is merging the plans of individual companies in order to achieve an integrated solution for the chain as a whole.
