ORGANIZATIONS CHANGE TO SURVIVE

At one time in the United States, a supervisor felt lucky to work for a stable, predictable corporation. The supervisor could anticipate security and upward mobility within the framework of a single large organization. The corporate womb was a safe, comfortable place to be. A first-line supervisor could blueprint a career path to the top with confidence. The supervisor knew, at least to some extent, what was ahead.

Today, the supervisor should feel lucky if he or she works for an organization that is sufficiently flexible to adjust to changes and survive. Organizations that are too slow to adjust will be left behind. Supervisors and employees who belong to such organizations will find themselves unemployed.
