KEEP OTHERS FROM USING UP YOUR TIME

  1. Respect other people's time. When you do, you send an unspoken message that you prefer not to interrupt others and would appreciate the same treatment in return.

  2. Indicate availability. Let people know when interruptions are okay. Schedule blocks of time when you are free for visits.

  3. Decline to be interrupted. When someone asks “Have you got a minute?” say “Not at this time because I'm in a deadline situation. I'll get back to you when time permits.” If you do it in a pleasant voice, no one should be offended. Be sure to get back to them as you said you would.
