CONDUCTING THE APPRAISAL

The second part of the performance appraisal is the “Process.” The process is how the performance review or conference is conducted. It is the who, what, where, how, and when of the appraisal. Many employees complain that their appraisal is completed by their supervisor and merely handed to them for their signature without a personal or private review conference. The employee is left out of the process entirely. Leaving the employee out is a big mistake. As mentioned earlier, performance appraisals have enormous effects on employees, and they expect and deserve a professionally conducted review. This process takes time and a professional review would have the following characteristics:
