Chapter 13. Delegation

After you have finished reading this chapter, you should be able to (1) list five reasons why supervisors don't delegate responsibilities and duties often enough, (2) describe the conditions under which a supervisor should delegate more, and (3) describe in specific terms how to do it.

“For Pete's sake, Harry, turn some of that stuff over to your employees and relax a little.”

“Good grief, Sally, it's ridiculous for you to kill yourself doing such routine work when you have nine people in your department who need the experience.”

“Come off it, Frank. You'd have plenty of time for more important things if you'd delegate some of those jobs you shouldn't be doing in the first place.”
