Chapter 13. Advanced MTA Configuration
One of the most powerful components of the Messaging Server is its MTA or message transfer agent. As described in the first part of this book, the message transfer agent is basically a router for email. If you are familiar with the PMDF product by Innosoft, the Messaging Server's MTA is basically the same product. Sun purchased Innosoft and its PMDF product in early 2000 and incorporated this technology into version 5.x of the Messaging Server, providing a highly scalable, reliable, and feature-rich MTA.
