Clustering within the Solaris Operating Environment

SC3.0 software is the first version in the Sun Cluster product line to implement clustering as an integral part of the Solaris OE. After the SC3.0 software is installed and a node is fully configured (including OS, cluster software, services, storage, file systems, etc.), it will automatically join a cluster if one is available. Conversely, if no cluster is available, the software will create a new cluster without user intervention.

Note

Although the Solaris OE currently supports clustering, SC3.0 is not a standard component of the OS and requires its own user license.
