The Failover Process

Failover is the transfer of the logical host from an active node to a standby node. A logical host has access to a subset of available machine resources, including IP addresses and disk groups (VxVM) or disk sets (SDS). Each logical host is configured with a unique name, and has information about which physical node is the preferred master and which physical node is a potential failover node, see Figure 7-1.
