Parallel Databases
Although SC2.2 software is capable of running parallel databases (PDBs), the subject is only discussed briefly here. PDB functionality within the SC2.2 software provides database vendors a computing platform which enables all nodes within the cluster to act as a single system—thereby offering scalability and high availability. Vendors currently using SC2.2 software with PDB functionality are: Oracle (Oracle Parallel Server), Informix (XMP), and IBM (DB2 EEE).
Although the underlying SC2.2 software for PDB uses the same hardware and software as an HA solution, PDBs use a fundamentally different approach to system redundancy and concurrency.
