Data Storage Options

The method of data access is dependent on the choice of data storage. Disk data can be stored in raw disk format or file system format. The following sections detail available data storage options and their associated issues:

Raw Disk Storage

Raw disk device I/O is supported by the SC2.2 software because it enables database vendors to circumvent file system features such as file buffer cache, inode cache, file access, etc. to enhance performance.
