Summary

Changing the SCSI-initiator ID on a cluster node enables two nodes to share SCSI storage devices on a single SCSI chain. This procedure is essential for correct operation of a shared SCSI chain. Changing SCSI IDs requires either direct or indirect modification of the nvramrc script. Changes are permanent (even after re-installation of the OS).

Because some firmware upgrades can modify OBP variables, it is critical to check the variables after any firmware changes. Regular backups of the EEPROM settings are also crucial.
