Chapter 12. Using Remote Shared Memory
Programming Sun Clusters using remote shared memory (RSM) is arguably the most sophisticated type of development currently offered in this environment and requires not only radical changes to application programs themselves, but also specialized hardware for the cluster interconnects.
In this chapter we will introduce what can be done with RSM, and some of the ways to go about making these things happen. There are a lot of sophisticated concepts involved in RSM programming, so it’s not something to be taken lightly; but it can be a powerful tool, as we will see.
