Network Protocol (MIB) Statistics via Streams

MIB data is information about a device on a network. MIB stands for management information base. This information provides feedback regarding the operation of a device, primarily throughput information but also more detailed information regarding the overall state of a device. It is the MIB data that is delivered through SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol).

The purpose of this section is not to articulate how to read SNMP and disseminate it but to describe how the MIB data is retrieved by a process in a streams-based environment.
