Abstract

This chapter defines the individual giving opportunity as it relates to the academic library and discusses the many versions. As the most traditional development method, individuals are the priority when it comes to central development. Though a diverse funding portfolio is the best way to ensure steady philanthropic income, the cultivation of individuals is essential when it comes to disseminating the value and relevance of the library to alumni and friends as well as internal constituents.
