Executive Summary

The purpose of the OSMM is to assist organizations as they select, evaluate, and implement open source software. The OSMM identifies the key elements that IT organizations need to succeed with open source and provides a four-step process to evaluate each element for its maturity level. After each element has been evaluated, weightings are applied to each element to calculate an overall maturity score for the product.

This chapter brings our example OSMM evaluation to a conclusion. Each chapter in this section of the book has described one element of a mature open source product.
