Assessing Documentation Maturity

Each of the documentation types should be assessed for a product.

The recommended strategy is to assess the available documentation for each of the types already described. An ideal situation is to use each type during a pilot program where real-world problems will be encountered and the adequacy of the documentation can be determined. However, it might not be feasible to implement a pilot program for the software product in question. If not, other methods are available to assess the quality of the product's documentation. These methods are appropriate to use whether a pilot is undertaken or not.
