CHAPTER 6The Triple Expectations Pyramid and Your Team

MEETING AND EXCEEDING THE EXPECTATIONS of your teams—helping them win—is the best way for you to generate positive business results for your organization. That’s where the results are created, after all (see Figure 6-1).

What’s required? Many people think a take-charge attitude is best, that you have to tell people what to do. Not me. I find that today’s worker prefers as much autonomy as possible within a structure, a framework—we might even dare to say a process, albeit one that is as simple as possible. Your job is to match that framework to your team and the work it is doing.
