Chapter 8. Responsive Design

Today’s Web page layouts need to be responsive to the many different environments in which they are displayed. There is a big difference between good user experience on a large monitor and on a mobile phone. A multi-column layout may make sense for a large monitor, but on a phone each column is so narrow as to be unreadable; a single, “serialized” column layout becomes the only feasible solution. It is then very easy and natural for the viewer to scroll the screen with a swipe gesture as she reads.
