A feature of multi-camera productions since the earliest days of television production has been the contribution made by television camera operators working regularly together as a crew. The number of camera operators forming a crew varies depending on production requirements but it is generally agreed that the continuity of working regularly as a team has a positive influence on the quality of the combined effort.

Working many years together on a range of top quality programmes, a number of outstanding camera crews have not only taken a pride in their crew identity but have amassed a breadth of collective experience that is often used by the director to the benefit of the production.
