Chapter 10. Structure Chart Refinement

Introduction

The application of the procedures given in the last chapter will result in a reasonable first-cut structure chart. However, in most cases there are further refinements necessary to produce an optimal code organization. In this chapter we will discuss some criteria for carrying out these refinements. Structure chart modifications leading to design improvements can be discovered by considering the coupling of pairs of modules, and the cohesion, complexity, and reusability of individual modules.
