Dealing with the Impossible Boss

It is important to note that before asserting yourself in the workplace with your boss, you need to make a rational assessment of any risks involved. If possible, get feedback from colleagues (particularly those who have known your boss for a long time) about whether asserting yourself is too risky. There are those occasional bosses who will not tolerate any attempt at assertiveness from employees, and who misinterpret even diplomatic feedback or requests as insubordination.
