MANAGING TALENT IN CHINA
At a recent conference in Shanghai, a Human Resources (HR) director for a large Western multinational company (WMNC) in China was reflecting on her work. After sighing and taking a sip of tea, she said, “The success of my company is in my hands.” Although she knew that she was exaggerating, there is a lot of truth in her statement. China is an important part of her company’s growth strategy, and her job is to attract, motivate, develop, and retain the people the company needs to succeed. She feels a strong sense of responsibility for her company’s success and is sometimes overwhelmed by the challenge.
