10.1 HELPFUL STANDARDS FOR OBSOLESCENCE MANAGEMENT

The sections that follow describe some of the best known resources on obsolescence and diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages (DMSMS) management.

In September 2010, the Defense Standardization Program Office (DSPO), published the new SD-22, “Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS): A Guidebook of Best Practices and Tools for Implementing a DMSMS Management Program.”

The SD-22 guidebook presents the management guidelines that the majority of the DMSMS management organizations in the world follow.
