One of the hallmarks of using XML-based protocols and technologies is flexibility. In this application, a programming API is called on the server using nothing more than a set of recorded commands that were automatically generated from an input document. No specific coding was required, and the resulting solution is just as robust and secure as a more complex solution involving custom programming would have been. As XML blurs the distinction between code and data, our applications can begin to do the same.
