Chapter 9. A Staffing Model Example

As described earlier, strategic staffing/workforce planning is, at its simplest, a form of gap analysis that defines the required skills and staffing levels, forecasts staff availability, calculates staffing gaps and surpluses, and defines the specific staffing actions that are needed in order to close gaps and eliminate (or at least reduce) surpluses.

This chapter provides a specific example of a process for creating staffing plans. The process described here is fully consistent with the context and approaches described in detail throughout this book. It focuses on the mechanics of the process.
