Late the same week, the CEO calls a meeting with his lead team . . .

“OK, let’s start. I need to talk to you because we are embarking on a mission-critical project and I am realizing that I have not done the work of talking to you yet. My bad, but here we are.”

“What, a mission-critical project?”

“Yes, that is right. Ed and I have hired Jane Rogers. She is a highly qualified product manager and is going to take on the SMART project as the project manager. She will report to Ed. I know you all understand this, but a project this large will begin to put a real strain on our resources.”

“What do you mean?” one lead team member responded. “I am already overloaded!”

Joe, looking a little surprised asked, “Overloaded?, how?” ...
