“I’ve got it, Ed! I know what I have to do!” exclaimed Joe. “I have to be much firmer when it comes to cross-group issues and ensure there is a structure that balances the business. I have been allowing Sally and others to just duke it out; her strength is difficult for the others in the organization to stand up to. Heck, I have not even held her accountable, really.”

“The first place to start is the ongoing conflict during implementations when a customer says the software doesn’t work right. No longer can I allow them to just duke it out. Sometimes it takes months and, really, the decision does not seem to get any better with time. But not making it has killed us.”
