Whenever possible, we used existing measurement systems to track innovation embedment. For example, we already had a Web-based employee survey tool in place that we adjusted to meet our need for surveys on individual measures. Adding measures to existing systems is ideal in the first few years of embedment. It lessens the confusion about how many new terms and concepts people have to learn.
