As discussed in Chapter Three, embedment goals are journey goals. They represent how we are progressing toward embedding innovation from everyone and everywhere. They are different from results goals in that they strive to describe how we know that innovation is embedded in our culture, values, knowledge sets, leadership systems, and the actual way of being. It turned out to be more difficult than we thought to come to terms with a discrete set of quantitative measures that made sense when talking about progress in changing culture, knowledge management, or learning.
