  • The concept of embedment is analogous to the institutionalization of a core competency.
  • A strong visual picture (in our case, the embedment wheel) is a good organizing framework to explain innovation embedment and motivate others to join.
  • Creating categories of embedment must build on change management, but it must be strongly differentiated in people's minds and in practice that embedment needs change management practices.
  • Leaders need both to understand embedment and be excited by it. Embedment will not work without leadership passion, commitment, and accountability to stay the course.
