Measurement and Reporting Systems and Systems Alignment

Anyone who works at Whirlpool understands one thing: people want alignment. Of course, this is not unusual. Most people would like their world to make sense. We took this need seriously. We focused our attention on two areas: (1) alignment of our measurement systems with our goals and (2) alignment of our systems and processes with our goals and rewards and recognition programs. Our desire was to hear hallway conversations that went something like this: “Gee, they have really thought about this,” or “This must be serious, it's on my performance review,” or “The new systems support the goals of innovation.”
