Fresh Air and Brilliant Sunlight

Over and over again, organizations shy away from measuring themselves objectively. Too many fear the bright light of transparency and have convinced themselves that gentle kindness, half truths and a sheltering mentality are somehow better for morale and performance than the fresh air of truth. It is impossible to create truly high-performance organizations and leaders if we are afraid to “post the stats” and keep score. Creating and fuelling the organizational conditions where the hunger for excellence is sacrificed for harmony and mediocrity is no way to build greatness.
