Checklist for the Management of Storage Networks
In Section 10.1.2 we discussed the development of a management system for storage networks. As a reminder: a good approach to the management of a storage network is to familiarise yourself with the requirements that the individual components of the storage network impose on such software. These components include:
- Applications
These include all software that is operated in a storage network and processes the data.
- Data
Data is the information that is processed by the applications, transported via the network and stored on storage resources.
- Resources
Resources include all of the hardware that is required for the storage and transport of the data and for the operation of applications.
- Network
Network means the connections between the individual resources.
Diverse requirements with regard to availability, performance or scalability can be formulated for these individual components. The following checklist should help to specify these requirements more precisely.

- How can I check the error-free implementation of the applications?
- Which active or passive interfaces will be provided for this by the applications?
