10.7. The Final Word
The SAN is a powerful amalgamation of rapidly evolving technologies: processors, interconnect strategies, storage devices. The evolution is obviously moving in the direction of greater speed, greater capacity, and more complex interconnections.
The power of the SAN derives not only from performance increases in its individual components, but, significantly, from a theoretically limitless ability to add and mix components. Add to that the power of a world of wired and wireless Internet connections. Those connections will be made by billions of people hungry for information.
